Labouchere Betting System

Winning is always the sweetest part of gambling, of course people dream of winning every time they bet. Roulette just as any other game makes people invent different systems and schemes to minimize losses and maximize enjoyment. Let us view Labouchere betting system – it is very popular among roulette players and can be used for some other casino games. Sometimes it is called cancellation or positive progression system. In some respects it is similar to Martingale betting system but it is less risky and you will not reach the table limit in just 7 losses in a row! The invention of this system is often ascribed to British politician Henry Labouchere. This man was a talented finance minister of Queen Victoria and was known as an ardent gambler. However, we cannot say for sure if Henry Labouchere was the real author of this system.

The Labouchere roulette system is good for the outside even-money bets. Many fans consider this system less risky than Martingale betting system and swear that is brings more consistent wins. To follow this system you should write down a sequence of numbers, which will influence the size of the bet. Let us take the following sequence: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 3 – 2.
Now you should start betting this way: the very first bet will be the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence above: 1+2=3. If your bet wins, these two numbers are excluded from the sequence and you have 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 3 left. The next bet you make will be the sum of the numbers that are first and last: 2+3=5. If you win again, you keep crossing out the numbers and when the whole sequence is completed, you start all over again. It is up to you to take the same numbers or to change them.

If you lose your bet, you should add the number of your first bet to the end of the sequence making it a little longer: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 3 – 2 – 3. Simple calculations show that the resultant net gain of a roulette cycle of 11 bets is 7 units after 6 losses and only 5 wins. It looks very attractive if compared to the other betting systems. Note that the sequence of the numbers you choose is absolutely free. However, remember that the longer the line is and the bigger the numbers are the more aggressive the roulette gameplay is. Beginners are advised to use numbers 1, 2 and 3 for their sequences.

Reverse Labouchere System

Speaking about Labouchere betting system it is necessary to mention its reverse variant that is also very simple to understand. You should write down a sequence of numbers of any length. Now you should bet the amount, which equals the sum of the first and last numbers in the sequence. If you lose, remove the first and last numbers from the line. If you win add the sum of the previous bet to the end of the sequence. There is a legendary Roulette game from 1966 when a team of roulette players with Norman Leigh as a leader has beaten the bank at one of Nice casinos (France), using this reverse version. Maybe Labouchere betting system will become your key to every door, too.
